God, this image took ages to render. If there is one thing that Lux is actually better at than DAZ’s implementation of Iray it’s that it actually allows you to stop, save, resume and combine renders. I lost 14 hours when my driver crashed after I had the audacity to watch something on YouTube in Firefox. So, another 14 hours or so for the foreground render (which is not really enough as shadows are still too blotchy for my taste, but I was too afraid that it would bork again), two passes for background (in hindsight, I should have replaced all background figures by pink cylinders or something) and lastly one separate pass for the eyes.

One thing that I really love about Iray is that you can use as many lights as you want and the number of emissive surfaces doesn’t have any tangible impact on render speed. In Lux, anything more than two mesh lights slows the render to an insufferable crawl.
